The Hausmann Quartet is the Fisch/Axelrod Quartet-in-Residence at San Diego State University’s School of Music and Dance. As part of the string faculty they each maintain private teaching studios at the school and coordinate the chamber music program in consultation with other faculty members.

The Hausmann Quartet has previously curated Converge, a quarterly interdisciplinary concert series on the SDSU campus, featuring the Quartet performing along with guest artists from the School of Music and beyond.
They visit local schools and colleges to provide clinics, masterclasses and performances on behalf of SDSU. See below for examples of current outreach offerings, and please contact us if you’d like to discuss a visit to your school.
Current School Programs
Preschool
Three Bears – a musical story featuring narration from the quartet which introduces the instruments and some fun musical concepts.
Elementary
Composer’s Cookbook – an interactive music program which even includes the students composing their own string quartet!
High School
Musical Soundtrack – an interactive program exploring the different ways that music is used to express emotion in our lives. From movies to popular music to string quartets and everything in between.
Jam Sessions
Jam Sessions utilize the art of music and collaborative music making to encourage at-risk participants to engage and connect through actively making music. Jam sessions can be tailored for homeless, seniors, incarcerated participants and at-risk youth.
Teacher Training
Chamber Music for All – includes live performance, demonstration of techniques for teaching string instruments, as well as universal ensemble skills applicable to students of all levels and instruments.
Residencies and Master Classes
The Hausmann Quartet creates tailored residencies and Master Classes for students of various ages, levels and disciplines. Please inquire.
