Music for Wellness
Our Music for Wellness sessions utilize collaborative music making to encourage adult participants to engage and connect through actively making music. The Hausmann Quartet brings together string quartet repertoire and the music for wellness activities of the music therapy organization MusicWorx, led by internationally recognized expert in the field, Barbara Reuer, PhD.
The Hausmann Quartet serve as mentors and coaches to oversee lively Music for Wellness jam sessions which engage participants in positive, creative music making while responding to the participants’ musical experience. Instruments used include rain drums, paddle drums, buffalo drums, tambourine, djembe, doumbek and versa drums with acoustic boxes, boomwhackers and egg shakers. No prior musical experience is required from participants.
Music for Wellness sessions are made possible in part through the Hausmann Quartet’s work with Art of Elan as community engagement partners, with support from The Conrad Prebys Foundation.
Monthly sessions are held at the Salvation Army’s Silvercrest senior residences in downtown San Diego (Tuesday), Chula Vista (Thursday) and El Cajon (Thursday). If you are a resident, please check with your Silvercrest staff for exact dates and times.
Monthly sessions are also held at the Chula Vista Veterans Home at 9:30am on the last Tuesday of each month.
Announcements of future dates and collaborations are coming soon!
